Girls Trip to Paris...College Roommates Celebrate 46 Years of Friendship

Travel Story
We attended Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana and became friends the first week of freshman year way back in 1972. We went on to become college roommates and lifelong friends. Though jobs and life took us to various parts of the country (and for awhile - the world) we have celebrated the joys of life and supported each other through the challenges over all these years. Distance did not matter ~ we stayed in touch even before email, texting and inexpensive long-distance phone calls were a reality. Though we saw each other at college reunions, we didn't take a trip together until 14 years ago when we spent a week in New York City the summer we all turned 50. At that time, we decided that life is too unpredictable to only plan a trip every five years...so we would mark each year with some kind of travel together. Our trip to Paris was our first venture out of the country together and we wanted to capture a moment of our time with professional photos. We just returned from the trip and our memories are too numerous to choose a favorite. The best memory is of being together in what is possibly the most most beautiful city on earth and enjoying every moment.
Travel Tips
We would recommend to have a plan of a few "must-dos" but then let the day take you where it may. We stumbled upon the stunning Hotel Raphael and its rooftop terrace on our very first afternoon walk in the city. The conversation was "Let's look in the lobby - this hotel looks really pretty. Oh, they have a terrace...let's go up and see..." This was followed by three hours sitting outdoors with the most beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower against the gorgeous blue sky and some delicious glasses of Sancerre wine - welcome to Paris! We returned to the terrace on our last night as part of our "au revoir Paris" evening.
