Travel Story
We had never been to Hawaii and being from the Midwest, we knew we needed two things -- an extended time off to go all the way to Hawaii and a relaxing warm vacation away before our first born arrived. Hawaii is absolutely stunning, so we wanted to take family photos of the special time when it was just the two of us and a baby on the way while taking in a new, breathtaking beach.
Travel Tips
Highly recommend a helicopter tour, food trucks and surfing in the North on Kauaii. A car is a must-have if you want to explore all the island has to offer. We did not hike due to the baby on the way, but there are endless hikes to explore. The wild chickens/roosters roaming the island were a hoot. We heard the South side of the island is warmer and more dry in the winter, so we stayed at a Marriott property there. Whale sightings are plentiful in the winter! Highly recommend staying in Kapaluaa on Maui. The Ritz is fantastic and we did a breakfast included package to maximize our stay. Maui is more of a kick back and relax type of stay, whereas Kauaii can be much more active.
