Travel Story
My husband and I had traveled to Honolulu four years ago when I was pregnant with our daughter, so now that I’m pregnant with our son, we decided for our last trip as a family of three, we’d visit Maui. I wanted to commemorate this special time in our lives with photos, and I wanted to capture something unique to Maui; the black sand beaches of Waianapanapa State Park fit the bill. It was a long journey, but after our shoot we enjoyed the park for a while longer, had some great lunch at local favorite, Thai Food by Pranee, and ended our day with ice cream. These photos will always take me back to a wonderful day, and a significant time in my family’s life. Indeed, taking the road less traveled by, made all the difference.
Travel Tips
We actually stayed on the west side of the island, and as a big Fleetwood Mac fan, my favorite spot was Fleetwood’s on Front St., and over all I enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Front St. It’s a great contrast to the otherwise serene island! If you plan to do the Road to Hana from the west side of the island, plan for 3 1/2 hours there and back, although it may take slightly less time. Make sure you’ve got an appropriate vehicle, and your best driver behind the wheel. It’s not for the faint of heart (or stomach).
