What is your best overall travel tip for San Juan?

Plan to use a rideshare like Uber or Lyft if you want to explore Old San Juan. Parking is extremely limited, and the city is best experienced on foot, anyway. Allow yourself the time and freedom to wander the colorful streets without a specific itinerary in mind. Pop in to the local art galleries and shops, cool down with a popsicle from Senor Paleta, grab a custom fitted Panama hat from Ole on Calle de la Fortaleza (less than a block from the popular 'umbrella street' art installation), and enjoy a meal at any one of the many outdoor restaurant patios around town. Ask your photographer and/or you Uber driver where you should eat. We greatly enjoyed Jose Enrique in Santurce and Puerto Criollo in Old San Juan. If you like a meal with flavor and crunch, order the kan kan porkchop. You won't regret it!
