Staying at Maximillianplatz street was the best decision we've made.. It's close to the city center and to the shopping area.. We love Bayern Munich and BMW so we had to visit the Allianz Arena and the BMW museum..
Always book a hotel in the center in order to be able to go everywhere by foot

We loved having dinner at Münchner Stubn and recommend hitting up Hofbräuhaus for a true German beir hall.
We loved trying different foods from the Viktualienmarkt and watching the Glockenspiel clock chime.
Going to Neuschwantstein Castle, BMW Museum, and a day trip to Salzburg.
Visiting during Christmas markets makes it extra special. Spend the extra money and hire a private guide for the day.
Servus Heidi. It was very close to our hotel and had amazing food. The waitstaff was great and was able to squeeze our group in.
Shopping in the marizenplatz, seeing the glockenspiel and visiting Oktoberfest for the first time.
Get a public transportation pass and use it!
Münchner Stubn. Awesome band, and its really near to the Hauptbahnhof.
Consider to arrive/depart on a Sunday. Shops are mostly closed, so do take note of this when planning activities.

Munich has a lot to offer, so there isn't really a bad time to go (the English Garden in the fall - oh my!). But Christmas is where the city really shows its spirit. And there isn't just the one market in Marienplatz! Oh no, don't forget the Medieval Christmas Market and the amazingly family-friendly Chriskindl market under the Chinese Tower in the English Garden - think mulled wine while the kids traverse the playground!

Ayinger am Platzl. The best beer and food in Munich.
Go on a bike tour to see all Munich has to offer. Spend some quality time getting lost and checking out all the local shops and cafes!
Get familiar with the public transportation system! It may seem complicated, but it’s the best way to get around once you get the hang of it!
Walk, walk, walk! Munich is a very walk able city and you can see so much by just moving around on foot. Seeing the surfers surf on the man-made Eisbach River was such a cool sight. Couldn't stop watching!
Augustiner-Keller was such a charming biergarten!
Plan ahead so you know where you want to go and go to places that are close to each other on the same day so you’re not wasting time or money bouncing back and forth all over the city :)
Oktoberfest was amazing, we cant wait to go back. We got their at opening and had no trouble finding seating in the tents.
Hire Gloria to follow you around as you explore all the beautiful architecture and food this amazing city has to offer.
The Viktualienmarkt is a great place to sample lots of local foods and mingle with locals and tourists alike. You can get food to eat while you are walking around and also buy some things to take with you for later.
If you're visiting Oktoberfest, you have to go all out and wear the traditional dirndl or lederhosen! We bought ours before going on the trip, but they also have plenty of stores in Munich that had them for sale. I can't begin to say enough good things about Mike's Bike Tours. It was a great, family-friendly way to see the city and get an idea of what you wanted to do next! Spend some serious time in the English Garden and bring your swimsuit. It's pretty amazing.
