I am leaving a long and effusive review because I truly believe that Mattia is the best proposal photographer in Lake Como. I 100% guarantee this is a genuine review from a happy customer. For context, I live in America and only speak English. So, when I decided I wanted to hire a photographer to capture my proposal in Lake Como, I was concerned that language barrier could make this challenging; proposal photography is deeply personal, so it is very important to be able to communicate in advance with your photographer so that the moment is captured exactly as I wanted. I chose Mattia because he already had by far the best reviews. Thankfully, he was available on the day I wanted to propose (note: he is absolutely worth the wait; if he isn't available on the date you want, I highly suggest you choose another date if you have the flexibility). Thankfully, his amazing reviews are actually reflective of reality. Before the shoot: Mattia is an excellent communicator in written and spoken English, and guided me every step of the way. Mattia and I discussed at length various locations and options to do the proposal shoot. He provided me examples of past shoots that he has done, which really helped to have a thoughtful discussion about concrete options that are available. Mattia answered my messages quickly, and was also very responsive to my suggestions. I had a vision of certain angles and poses that I wanted, and Mattia was extremely thoughtful and accommodating. I believe he has done thousands of photo shoots over the years, so Mattia is an expert at knowing how to capture exactly what you are looking for. After choosing the location (I chose Villa Melzi, specifically at the temple / tea room), Mattia provided clear, step by step instructions on what to do on the day of. I really appreciated how clear and detailed his instructions were, because it took away any anxiety from the proposal planning. I was crystal clear when to meet him, where to meet him (he provided Google Maps links so there was zero doubt!), and how to recognize him without giving away the surprise to my future fiancee. Capturing the proposal: Mattia was extremely patient. There were more people at the proposal location than expected, so it took a bit longer than planned to get me and my partner into position. Mattia held his position perfectly. You can tell he is a true artist and a perfectionist. While Mattia has done thousands of proposal shoots, you can tell that he understands that every proposal is one of the best moments in the couples' lives, and wants to make sure he captures the moment perfectly. After seeing the photos, I am frankly amazed at what he was able to capture. You can tell that experience really matters when capturing the micro-moments of a proposal, and I truly believe that Mattia is the best in the business. Notably, my fiancee didn't even notice Mattia during the actual proposal. Somehow, he is able to expertly capture the moment, while still being very discrete, allowing me and my fiancee to enjoy the moment together. Engagement photo shoot: After the actual proposal, we met up with Mattia. Even though we've never actually met (but had been communicating for days!), he was so friendly that it felt like I was meeting up with a friend who just captured the most important moment of my life. Mattia is extremely kind and approachable, and made me and my fiancee feel extremely welcome. Mattia guided us through Villa Melzi, showing us the best angles to get engagement photos. You can tell he knew the area like the back of his hand because he suggested locations and angles that I could have never discovered on my own. Mattia also made sure to take us to a variety of locations throughout the villa (some which I noticed other visitors didn’t seem to know about), offering a diverse set of scenic backdrops for our engagement shoot. Somehow, he managed to fit an incredible amount of photos, poses, and locations in the time we had. I could tell he wants to make sure his customers get the best value for their money as possible. The photos: Mattia delivered the photos much faster than I could have ever expected! The photos Mattia delivered to us exceeded all of our expectations. He subtlety and beautifully captured even moments that I didn't realize, making the photos feel candid and genuine. There are many photos that my fiancee and I are so excited to frame in our home. Somehow, Mattia is able to compose shots that feel naturalistic and truly capture the essence of the couple. We couldn't be more thrilled with the photos, which frankly is the most important thing. “ Jean was great to work with from start to finish. Before the shoot he provided a plethora of idea for places to shoot, places to park, and a restaurant recommendation for afterwards. During the shoot he was easy to work with and gave clear instructions to help us pose during the photos. He knows all the great spots in Bellagio which turned out to be a great tour of the city and I feel that we fully maximized our hour shoot. The photos could not have turned out better. I had even seen it was supposed to rain on our day and he brought the really pretty clear umbrellas just in case but luckily it did not rain.
