Centro Historico, or the historic center of Guadalajara, is the one place you can't miss when visiting the city. To grasp local history well, start at Plaza de Armas, the oldest of Guadalajara's plazas, and marvel at the iconic Cathedral, a four-hundred-year-old building that dominates the skyline with baroque, neoclassical, and gothic elements. Then, check the colonnade of La Rotonda de Los Jaliscienses, a monument that celebrates famous citizens. Longer tours (60 minutes or more) can include the imposing neo-classical Degollado theatre, an epicentre for the city's booming cultural scene.
