Flaggy Shore Oyster shucking class was perfect! It was small enough to ask questions, see up close, etc., and the person leading was so knowledgeable and friendly. What are the best things to do in Galway?

There are lots of great shops and restaurants in the town area, we loved walking around and taking it all in. We did a couple day trips out of Galway, including Connemara National Park and the Burren and Cliffs of Moher.

What is the best tip for travelling with kids to Galway?

I think it totally depends on what age your children are based on the ease of traveling. Our son is about 2 1/2 and I think for this age routine is fairly important, which is hard to stick to in my opinion when traveling to a place like Europe when you are constantly on the move and trying to see multiple sights and landmarks. Bring or have lots of snacks they are familiar with, bring a stuffed animal or security/comfort item, bring new toys/activity items on the airplane they haven't seen before. We also had a kids tablet with downloaded movies and shows/videos. Lastly, give yourself some grace! It is hard to travel with kids, but we ultimately enjoyed our experience and will have lasting memories.

It’s fun to search for hidden treasures in the Galway Market outside St. Nicholas’s Church (a medieval church worth a visit itself). Local artists sell great original pieces and there some amazing antique shops just around the corner as well.
