What is your love story?

Marisela and I met on Match.com in 2012. I knew I met the person I wanted to be with for the rest of my life after our first “live” date. She is an amazing person, she loves freely, is driven to succeed at anything and everything and makes me the most happiest person alive. I can be myself around her. After 9 years together, I decided to do a surprise proposal and it went absolutely perfectly.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We had a trip planned to Flagstaff but after viewing Terri’s photos and knowing she is also a tour guide convinced me to change locations to the Grand Canyon. I’m glad I did! We did a small hike in the afternoon and then had the photo shoot right at sunset. It was amazing!

What is your proposal story?

I was so nervous for the proposal. It was a first for me. I spoke to Marisela’s parents before the proposal and consulted with my own as well. After receiving everyone’s blessings I began planning. When the day finally came I was an absolute mess. Mari kept asking me what was wrong because I was so quiet and barely ate breakfast or lunch. By the time of the actual proposal I was shaking! But our photographer Terri made the process so easy. She gave me our agreed upon cue and I gave my little speech and went down on one knee. Mari had no idea I had this planned. She is not a crier but she had tears in her eyes and it was an absolute amazing moment. The rest of the time was used to take amazing scenic photos. After our proposal and photo shoot we headed back to Flagstaff and enjoyed a fancy dinner date at Josephine’s. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day.
