Benjamin & Jonna Mae's Proposal Story in Cabo San Lucas

How did you meet?

Coffee Meets Bagel

What is your love story?

We met through Coffee meets Bagels and chose to first meet at Philz coffee in downtown San Francisco before the pandemic in January 2020. We kicked it off and starting seeing each other more often after a couple months of talking. We are like-minded and care deeply about the same things, so when we can hold a conversation and have the same sense of humor about it. That’s how I knew she was the one. It’s also about how she handled herself around the people I love and that means the world to me.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

My cousin was getting married and I saw how beautiful it was, so I saw my opportunity to surprise her when the time was right.

What is your proposal story?

We had the idea of saying we were taking family photos and in the process we started with couples only on the beach and me and Jonna started off first.

George & Melissa's Proposal Story in Cabo San Lucas

How did you meet?

Work

What is your love story?

We were introduced to each other at a company party by my boss and hit it off immediately and spent the entire night engrossed in conversation. We dated for several years content in our relationship before getting engaged. We grew closer over the years and became best friends. At that point I felt a strong desire to make us officially a family.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Luis at flytographer gave me several options to choose from and I loved the vibe of the Arch in the back ground on Monumentos beach next door to The Cape Hotel in Cabo.

What is your proposal story?

I wanted it to be a surprise proposal, so I chose the Fly on the Wall option so Melissa had no idea it was coming. I set it up for the last night of our 6 day vacation. I decided I wanted to use some props so Luis helped set up bottle of champagne, a vase of flowers and planted roses and lights in the sand surrounding the blanket on the beach. We walked down the beach with our best friends (who were on vacation with us) towards the props and someone jokingly said "It must be for you guys." We all started laughing like he was crazy. Melissa still had no idea it was for us. We stood around talking and looking at the Arch for a couple min before I grabbed her hand to walk towards the end of the beach and suddenly stopped by the props and told Melissa to check it out. After I moved her into position on the blanket so the photographer (hidden in the rocks beside us) could get a good angle to the proposal, I dropped to one knee. The expression on her face was priceless (she said YES) and was the highlight of my vacation and something I will remember the rest of my life.

Chris & Rachael's Proposal Story in Cabo San Lucas

What is your love story?

We dated 16 years ago and were young and drifted apart with our lives going in different directions, but then reconnected in November last year and instantly fell in love and haven't looked back.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

Rachael loves the beach and Cabo is one of the most beautiful beaches I have been to.

What is your proposal story?

We got massages at a spa and spent the day relaxing at our resort. We then got cleaned up and I lured her to the photo shoot location about 10 minutes away.

Best tip for proposing in Cabo San Lucas

There are a ton of beautiful locations. After looking at example pictures, I settled on Monumentos Beach. With the dramatic rock formations, strong waves, gorgeous ocean and rocks in the background, we ended up with so many gorgeous memories and photos.

Chase & Carley Ozaeta's Proposal Story in Cabo San Lucas

How did you meet?

School

What is your love story?

We went to middle school and high school together so we’ve actually known each other since we were about 12. We didn’t talk much through school but years later I reached out to her on Instagram. She agreed to a date and the rest is history. Shortly after dating Carley’s father died of cancer and about 6 months after that my step-mother died of cancer. This all happened during Covid lockdown as well. These were some of the hardest times of our lives but it brought us closer together and she always kept a smile on my face no matter how tough things got. We have a goofy and fun relationship and we are inseparable. I knew early on she was the one.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

I didn’t want to do the normal beach proposal. The art district in San Jose Del Cabo is filled with beautiful colors, flagged lined streets, and its unique.

What is your proposal story?

The proposal was going to be a surprise. For a about a week before I thought I wasn’t going to make it happen because I’m a firefighter and a big fire broke out which I was on for about 5 or 6 days. I was stressed out to say the least. Lucy I was able to make it. The day of the proposal we got off our flight and grabbed lunch near the proposal site so I could know exactly where it was, Carley had no idea. She got ready and I was rushing her so we wouldn’t be late, she takes forever lol. She thought we were just going to be late to dinner. I sped over to the proposal spot and she kept tripping in her heels we were walking so fast hahah. We got to the site and I saw Fernanda, the photographer. She approached us and told us she was a local photographer and saw us and just wanted to take some pics for her portfolio, all part of the plan. She got us in position but someone was making some sort of documentary Or vlog where we wanted to do the proposal. So Fernanda did a great job of stalling. The whole time Carley was whispering to me, “what’s taking so long I have to pee so bad.” Finally the guy filming left, Fernanda got us in position, she said ,”this is perfect” which was my que to get on a knee and propose, and Carley was more than surprised to say the least.

Best tip for proposing in Cabo San Lucas

Not everything is going to go as planned. Whether your fiancé takes forever to get ready or there is someone random filming a vlog where you want to propose. Just be flexible.

Eric's Proposal Story in Cabo San Lucas

What is your love story?

I don’t believe that anyone ever expects or anticipates to meet their soul mate, but as you spend time with the person and time goes by, you start to realize that you wouldn’t want to live life without your significant other. I knew Lindzie was the one because asides from the awesome spelling of her name, she became someone I loved, someone I would deeply miss when she was away, and someone who I just couldn’t get enough of. I wanted to feel her touch, her presence, and her illuminating personality with me at all times and that was when I realized, “I don’t think life would be worth living without her by my side”.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

I had been to Cabo before in the past but Lindzie had not. It is a beautiful, astonishing place with sun-kissed beaches , mesmerizing blue waters, and weather we just don’t get at home. We both enjoy tropical destinations, warmer temperatures, and tend to appreciate vacations which are more relaxing and laid back.

What is your proposal story?

We made dinner reservations at the nicest restaurant at our resort for the evening, so she was already getting ready but did not know what to expect. I said that I wanted to go to the beach at our resort to view the sunset and we both had noticed the unique rock formation towards the right side of the beach property (made known to me by my Flytographer photographer Fernanda). Before our trip my sister made a planted comment about wanting us to bring back a seashell from our trip so this was another incentive for us to go down to the beach that evening. When we got to the sandy beach the sun was right behind us setting right between the rocks, creating a stunning, golden backdrop. I told my girlfriend to find someone to take our picture and there our photographer was waiting, acting as an unknown stranger. As my girlfriend ran back to get in place, I was digging around in the sand and pulled out an oyster shell which I had brought with me. My girlfriends first reaction was just a statement about it being a cool shell, “how did you find that”, and told me to take it home for my sister. I told her to open the shell and once she did she paused, went into a slight state of shock, and covered her mouth. The engagement ring was contained within the shell and she started shaking, then jumped up and down excitedly and then fell to her knees as well. Happy to say she said yes! :)
