What is your love story?

Our first date was at a local bar/restaurant in Austin, Texas. I remember thinking how beautiful she looked the moment I met her for the first time. Although I was extremely nervous, our conversation flowed extremely smoothly. Fast forward several years, and we were madly in love with each other. She was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She was loved by everyone, had a caring heart, and we both made each other extremely happy. After a few years together, we brought a dog into our family - Moose. Moose brought Moira and me even closer together. Personally, seeing how caring and loving Moira was towards him made me fall even more in love with her. By this point, I knew she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

What made you choose this proposal destination?

We had always talked about visiting Italy. We spontaneously booked this trip a few months prior to going. Our first stop was Almafi - arguably the most beautiful coast in the world. I wanted to propose at the beginning of the trip so we could enjoy the rest of Italy as an engaged couple.

What is your proposal story?

I had booked Pasquale just days before we arrived in Italy to take photos of my surprise proposal. I told Moira I hired a tour guide to walk us through one of the villas and take some photos of us (since we're both really bad at taking photos while on vacation). We met Pasquale at Villa Rufolo and began walking around to find the perfect spot. I started to get really nervous because Moira, being the inquisitive person she is, was asking tons of questions about the history of the villa not knowing Pasquale was just a photographer. We took a few photos and then walked outside where there was a ledge overlooking the Amalfi coastline. I knew this was the spot. I gave Pasquale the hand signal to get in place. Despite rehearsing my long thought-out speech for days, I became speechless the second I turned toward her. She looked so beautiful and she had no idea this was about to be one of the most special moments of our lives. I don't even remember what I said - I just began to tear up and nearly blacked out when I went to grab the ring out of my back pocket. Needless to say, she was completely surprised and she said YES!

Best tip for proposing in Amalfi

If you choose to propose at one of the villas, beware that they may charge a fee ($150+) to have an outside photographer take your photos. Some villas also require you to book a date and time with one of their photographers. I would recommend checking this ahead of time.
