“When you visit Venice, become a part of the town. Remember that it is a beautiful city opening its arms to you…”
To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Filomena and Nuno decided to visit Venice, but they wanted to do it their own way — go off the beaten path, interact with locals, and discover the true vibe of the city. They also decided that they wanted a vacation photographer to capture the occasion and we are so glad they did! Read on for more on their time in the wonderfully romantic city of canals.
“This trip was like a 10th year anniversary gift for us, because in September, it will be ten years we’ve been together and we wanted to celebrate in a beautiful place that we both wanted to visit. We’ve always wanted to visit Venice and this year we finally decided to go. What we really wanted to do was not to go and visit all the ‘touristy’ places, but to catch a glimpse of the real Venice, like we usually do in other places we visit. A funny thing that happened on the first night, in the middle of the night, I woke up to the sound of an ambulance siren and suddenly it hit me — there are no cars in Venice, how can an ambulance come? Of course, it was a boat, and I realized how different life is in Venice.
“When you visit Venice, become a part of the town. Remember that it is a beautiful city opening its arms to you and it receives more visitors than its own inhabitants. Make sure to try the delicious seafood (there’s a great restaurant near the fish market), coffee in little cafés around town, and delicious sweets in pasticcerias — you have to try them all!” – Filomena
