This week’s traveller of the week is the Schulte family. Natalie is one of our wonderful Prague photographers, but she recently travelled with her family to Miami and surprised them with their own Flytographer shoot to document their time together. Read on for her take on Miami, the importance of reconnecting as a family, and why she’s so glad they embraced the rain during their photo shoot.
4 Questions with Natalie
What brought you to Miami?
My family and I try to travel every year, but since I moved abroad to the Czech Republic, I see my family much less than I’m used to. My parents planned this vacation for us as a way to reconnect with each other before I hopped back on a plane to my European home. We visited Miami a few years ago and loved it so much that we had to return!
Any favourite memories from your trip?
My favourite memory from this trip was the night we went out to eat in Key West at a unique restaurant called Blue Heaven. Live music, incredible food and quality conversation with my family were the three things I had been craving, all rolled into one!
What was the funniest moment of the trip?
The funniest memory was definitely from our Flytographer shoot — it started pouring on us halfway through! Kristina was such a trooper and managed to get so many beautiful shots of my family playing, dancing and skipping in the rain! While not ideal, I’m glad we made the most of our shoot! After all, the shots of us soaking wet and laughing will be the ones we treasure years down the road because they stand out from every other typical family photo we’ve taken!
Can you give us any great Miami recommendations?
We loved our dinner and drinks at Bodega. The tacos are fantastic, and if you are looking for cool vibes, walk through the secret door (it looks like a port-a-potty!) and enter into the coolest speakeasy. Play pool, watch old movies, or just take in the scene as you sip on delicious cocktails. You could close your eyes and pick a random order, and you wouldn’t be disappointed!
