These couples stole away on one last romantic vacation as a family of two before their little one made their grand debut into the world.
Pregnancy is a fleeting time (although the mamas-to-be may beg to differ!), and we love seeing how couples celebrate with one last relaxing getaway before their family grows by one. From Lisbon to San Diego, our couples have chosen some of the most beautiful destinations in the world to share some peace and quiet together. Whether they’ve had kids for years or they’re just about to begin their journey into the world of parenting, this quality time was well-deserved! Without further ado, here are our favourite babymoon memories of 2019.
Favourite Memory: “Spending time alone together before life gets crazy. We also stayed at a spa resort in Northern Ireland for a few nights and got pampered, which was completely amazing.”
Inspiration: “We are expecting our first child this year and wanted to have one last vacation with just the two of us. We chose Ireland because we got a mix of relaxation and sight-seeing. The destination was perfect for our last hurrah!” — Carly in Dublin
Inspiration: “We had planned a trip to New York for my husband’s 30th birthday! After we booked our trip we found out we were pregnant, so we decided to book Flytographer to take our maternity pics in Central Park where we had gotten engaged.” — Debby in New York
Inspiration: “We wanted a nice relaxing getaway before our baby arrives. Palm Springs was the perfect location!” — Eleanor in Palm Springs
Favourite Memory: “The photo session! My husband and I felt so comfortable and were laughing most of the time on a beautiful beach at sunset.”
Inspiration: “My husband has been to Hawaii before and this was my first time going. When we found out I was pregnant, we realized it was a perfect place for a babymoon.” — Magdalena in Maui
Favourite Memory: “Porto was our favourite city in Portugal! I was so happy that we chose this as the location for the photo shoot. We found an awesome Airbnb on the opposite side of the river that had amazing views of Porto. We would just sit there and stare, in awe of the beauty. Other than that, the castles, places, monasteries, convents, and all of the history really added to the charm of Portugal. Such a great vacation!”
Inspiration: “My husband and I try to take a big trip every year to celebrate our anniversary instead of exchanging gifts. We also were expecting our first baby this year! Portugal has always interested us and seemed like a last big trip before the new addition to our family arrives. We were able to rent a car and explore most of the country.” — Sarah in Porto
Favourite Memory: “Hiking! Everywhere you look is so incredibly beautiful, so we were up before the sun everyday experiencing as much of the Canadian Rockies as possible.”
Inspiration: “It was our babymoon! We are expecting our first child, and thought Banff would be an amazing place to spend time together in nature.” — Kelsey in Banff
Favourite Memory: “The kids would probably say Sanrio Puroland and Tokyo Disneyland, but the adults would probably say simply walking through the streets of Tokyo and trying the unique foods.”
Inspiration: “We have a family of 4 (expecting another one in August 2019) with 2 young kids aged 2 and 6. We wanted to visit a country with a lot of culture, family-friendly activities, and good food. Japan was perfect for us, as the non-stop things to do kept our kids engaged, interested, and the good food made it easy for us to keep everyone happy.” — Linh in Tokyo
Favourite Memory: “Breathtaking views of the city and sights, museum and metro hopping, wandering down beautiful alleyways, finding our favorite boulangerie, cruising the Seine, reading in the park amidst gorgeous springtime blooms, enjoying the beautiful desserts and best crepes, croissants, onion soup, steak and frites, hot chocolate, and fresh juices! Everywhere we went was so accommodating to pregnant women, from seats in the metro to lines for tours, I was so impressed!”
Inspiration: “My husband and I travelled to Paris on our babymoon! Neither of us had ever been to Paris (although it had been on my wish list for years). It was a very special trip especially since it will be our last before baby arrives.” — Teresa in Paris
Favourite Memory: “Twirling around a lamp post for Matteo to complete a few ‘test shots’ which led to my favourite photos of the two of us!”
Inspiration: “We wanted to take a trip for our babymoon, not to serve as a ‘last’ trip by any means, but to serve as an adventurous chapter with two protagonists before our adventures becomes filled with three!” — Chauntae in Venice
Favourite Memory: “Probably exploring the city on foot and through public transportation. Lisbon is one of the easiest cities to navigate and we loved ‘living like a local’ and eating, walking and breathing the culture and people.”
Inspiration: “This was originally planned as a birthday trip, but when we found out we were expecting we made it a birthday and babymoon trip. We took 10 days to explore Portugal including Porto, Obidos, Coimbra, and Aveiro, ending in Lisbon which was the perfect way to conclude our trip.” — Melissa in Lisbon
