The town of Breck
World class skiing has made Breckenridge an international destination, but it still retains its quaint and cool mountain town vibe. Main Street is lined with historic buildings, and while strolling down the street with a hot chocolate under the softly falling snow, you’ll feel like a star in your very own Hallmark movie. Grab a fresh, hot crepe from Crepes á la Cart (it’s worth the wait in line!) or pop into one of the many quirky stores. Joy of Sox has a massive display of whimsical socks for when you need to warm up your toes, and Belvidere & Hern – Old West slang for “His and Hers”- for a curated selection of fair trade and made in the USA products. The charming Speakeasy Movie Theatre is housed in the basement of a 1909 schoolhouse with fresh popcorn, snacks and even adult beverages, so you don’t have to miss out on the latest flick while on vacation.
Hearthstone is a beloved date night spot in a 125-year-old Victorian home, or for casual fun, Downstairs at Eric’s is an underground, locally-owned and family-friendly spot with 80+ beers, tasty American fare, and classic arcade games to play while you wait.
For the colder months
The world class skiing is the main draw for many winter visitors, but be sure to explore beyond the slopes. Imagine yourself in the winter wonderland of Narnia as you snowshoe through sparkling trails, either on a guided tour or without. Sledding and tubing are classic, family-friendly activities. We recommend the free, neighbourhood hill at Carter Park for a fun afternoon of sledding, or head to a bigger run just outside of town, such as Keystone Resort Tubing or the Frisco Nordic Center for long, twisting runs on giant inflatable tubes.
What’s more classic for exploring the snowy terrain than by dog sled? Take turns mushing and riding as you make your way through miles of winding trails behind a team of powerful dogs. Explore the backcountry of Breckenridge at a slightly quicker pace on a state-of-the-art snowmobile, and experience all of the adventure Colorado has to offer!
For the warmer months
When you’ve visited during the winter months, it’s nearly impossible to imagine Breckenridge without a fresh blanket of crisp, white snow. However, Colorado is a picture-perfect destination every month of the year. Tap into the town’s historic mining roots with a Gold Mine Tour, and you can even pain for real gold! Take a kayaking or rafting tour down the sparkling rivers or fly through the towering pine trees on a zipline.
Boreas Pass Road is a spot you can hike, bike or drive for unforgettable views from mid-spring through fall, but it really shines in fall, when the landscape is painted in an array of golden hues.
