1. Mont-Boron

Parc Mont-Boron is a lovely city park home to some of the best views in the city, including the Mediterranean Sea, Old Town Nice, and the Port of Nice. Covered in lush greenery, it’s a popular spot for hiking and picnicking, with various trails and paths leading to the top. At the summit, visitors can take in breathtaking views and relax in peaceful surroundings—after snapping a selfie with the incredible background, of course! đŸ€ł This is the perfect place to watch the sun set over the Mediterranean Sea before enjoying Nice’s rich nightlife. 

For a unique experience, visit the 19th-century Fort du Mont Alban, which was originally built to defend the Bay of Villefranche and Nice’s harbour. It’s now open to the public, serving as a popular attraction that provides a glimpse into the region’s military history. Visitors can see well-preserved features like a drawbridge, guard room, and cannon battery. 😼

2. Promenade des Anglais

The Promenade des Anglais is a seaside promenade that stretches along the Mediterranean coast, offering beautiful city views on one side and gorgeous ocean views on the other. 😍 The promenade is lined with palm trees, flowers, and benches, making it an inviting place to relax and soak up the sun. For a lovely afternoon, bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the beach after a walk along the promenade—with the sea breeze, ocean sounds, and azure waters, you’ll make unforgettable memories here. 

The Promenade des Anglais was originally built in the early 19th century by English tourists who were seeking a place to take a leisurely stroll. Since then, it has become an integral part of Nice’s culture and history and one of the city’s most famous landmarks. On any given day, you’ll see many people participating in a variety of activities along the promenade, including walking, jogging, cycling, and sunbathing. 🚮

3. Old Town Nice

Old Town Nice, also known as Vieux Nice, is a historic neighbourhood located in the heart of the city. Old Nice is a maze of cobblestone alleys and winding stairways, lined with colourful buildings, cozy cafes, quaint shops, and lovely galleries. Enjoy a stroll through the streets and take in the sights and sounds of this vibrant neighbourhood; at the same time, stop to shop at the many local markets or sample the delicious street foods on offer—definitely try socca, a savory chickpea crepe. 😋

One of the main attractions of Old Town Nice is the famous Cours Saleya market, which is held every day of the week except Monday. Here, vendors sell a variety of local products, including fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables, spices, and other specialty items. 💐 Cours Saleya is easily one of the best places to take photos in Nice and is also a great place to taste local cuisine and meet friendly vendors.

4. The Port of Nice

The Port of Nice is a commercial port idyllically located between Parc du Mont-Boron and La Colline du Chateau. Surrounded by greenery and set on the Mediterranean Sea, this picturesque harbour is a fabulous place to take photos! 

The bustling port is a vital link in the local fishing industry and also supports a variety of shipping activities for yachts, cruise ships, and even cargo ships. The Port of Nice is also home to several marinas, providing berths for hundreds of vessels and offering state-of-the-art boating services. â›”

While the Port of Nice is a busy industrial hub, it offers so much more! Visitors to the port can enjoy a range of activities, from browsing local shops and restaurants to taking a stroll along the harbour and admiring the stunning views of the sea and surrounding hills. ⛰

5. Castle Hill

Castle Hill is home to the ruins of a 16th-century castle, which was built by the Duke of Savoy to defend Nice against invasions. 🏰 Today, the ruins are a popular spot for visitors, as they offer a fascinating glimpse into the city’s rich history. Take your time exploring what remains of the castle, including its towers and courtyards. As you wander through the area, you’ll see remnants of Roman replicas as well as ongoing archaeological digs. It is a truly engaging experience! 

Castle Hill boasts several parks and gardens, providing visitors with a peaceful and lush green escape from the city below. 🌳 The hill is a great spot for those looking to enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking, picnicking, and bird-watching. 6. St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral

St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Nice is a stunning and awe-inspiring sight to behold. With its iconic gold domes, intricately detailed stone façade, and towers topped with jade-green domes, the cathedral looks as though it came straight out of a fairy tale. 😍 And its beauty doesn’t end there! The grounds of the cathedral are expansive and well-maintained, with lush gardens, perfectly trimmed hedges, and cypress trees surrounding the main building, giving it an air of majesty. There is no doubt about it—this is one of the best places to take photos in Nice! 📾

Aside from its beauty, the cathedral has a great deal of historical and cultural significance. It was built between 1864 and 1888 and was the first Russian Orthodox cathedral to be resurrected in France after the 14th century. To this day, St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral remains a centre of culture in Nice, being used to house various cultural activities, such as theatrical performances, conferences, and exhibitions.

7. Place Masséna

Located in the heart of Nice, Place MassĂ©na is a vibrant public square full of captivating scenery and magnetic energy. đŸ’« Colourful buildings, charming sculptures, and beautifully manicured gardens bring even more life to the area. The square was named after Jacques MassĂ©na, France’s most successful military commander, who was one of Napoleon’s trusted lieutenants.

8. Quai Rauba Capeu

Quai Rauba Capeu is a charming promenade located in Old Nice. The quay is lined with pastel-coloured buildings featuring a mix of cafes, restaurants, and shops, making it a popular spot for visitors and locals alike. 

Quai Rauba Capeu is a great place to take a leisurely stroll and soak up the sun ☀ or sit and enjoy a meal while admiring the stunning views of the sea. The promenade is also a hub of activity, with street performers, musicians, and artists contributing to the vibrant atmosphere. Many traditional festivals and events take place here throughout the year as well.

📾 Photography tip: Along the promenade, you’ll come across a beautiful lookout with impressive views of Baie des Anges, an iconic “I love Nice” installation, and a large sundial. This striking spot is one of the most Instagrammable places in the city and a fabulous place for a photoshoot!

9. Cimiez

Nestled in the north of Nice is the historic neighbourhood of Cimiez. The area is famous for its beautiful architecture and cultural heritage, with numerous villas and mansions built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that still stand to this day.
