Kayla and Alex were inspired by a love for all things Lord of the Rings to spend their honeymoon in New Zealand. But beyond nerding out over the many New Zealand filming locations like Hobbiton, they discovered so much more. Read on for all that Auckland had to offer, from incredible food to stunning nature and amazing views.
“My husband and I chose New Zealand and Fiji as our honeymoon destinations because we wanted a bit of everything: culture, adventure, beautiful scenery, and the beach! We got all of that in New Zealand and more! We spent an amazing sixteen days in New Zealand, which we kicked off with a great Flytographer session with Joanna in Auckland, where we got to learn about the city and fun places to go on the North Island. Our initial inspiration to travel to New Zealand was definitely the Lord of the Rings movies — we couldn’t resist all the opportunities for nerdy moments!
“So many people on travel forums tried to dissuade us from going to Auckland, but the city has amazing food, beautiful views (such as the Wynyard Quarter where we had our Flytographer session), and even some day hikes. We definitely recommend taking a ferry to Devonport and eating in Ponsonby on the North Island!
“Our favourite memory from our trip was our winery day on the North Island. We travelled down to the southern part of the North Island and spent the day riding bicycles around to the different wineries and ended with a wine dinner in Martinborough. It was a great change of pace and allowed us to relax a bit compared to the tours and sightseeing we had been doing.
“Receiving a Flytographer photo shoot through Zola was an amazing wedding present! My husband and I love travelling and I hope to book a Flytographer session every time we travel now! It was such a nice way to start the trip.
“It was so nice to explore an area of Auckland with Joanna that we might not have otherwise seen, while also taking pictures. We loved the different areas we went to and Joanna always made sure we were comfortable and having fun. It was so nice to start off our trip with her!” – Kayla
